Battery Question: what’s this fused accessory wire?

As you can see, I have some intense corrosion on my battery. Especially at my positive terminal. I noticed tonight that there’s some accessory wire which corroded off and had fallen behind the expansion reservoir at the top of the image. Does anyone know what is connected to that fused accessory wire that is now corroded and detached from the positive terminal? Many thanks in advance!

Truck in question is 2016 F-350 Crew Cab Platinum SRW 6.7L.

Did the truck ever have a shell? I have a power wire like that for the light inside the shell.

Clean that battery well with baking soda & warm water. Coat the tightened battery made-up posts with Vaseline.
Strip a #14 or #12 Romex and lay the bare wire across your battery. Don't terminate it.
The corrosion will attack the copper and not the terminals. Replace the wire when badly corroded.

Also, it appears the battery is outgassing significantly. Pop the caps & check acid level. Top up with distilled water.
Just suggesting these bits.

Yes, I think you were right. This battery has an indicator window that alleged it was dead so I replaced both with AGMs.

That’s a really clever solution with the bare romex. I will do that if it happens again. I cleaned up and replaced the old batteries with AGM batteries and replaced the damaged clamp.

The batteries in the 15's and 16's must've been horrible. Mine did the same thing as far as corroding. The passenger side battery was actually swelled up.
