Battery light coming on

The battery light started coming on this summer. The length of time it stays on varies. Truck starts fine , lights and every thing are bright and work fine. The batteries were both changed this spring. Light never came on before the new batteries and didn,t start coming on until a month after new batteries. Just looking for ideas to start checking .

First off.. check & clean & tighten the battery terminals REAL good. Then test the running voltage.. should be 14.5 or so. after that (?) being 4/5 years old ... test, or have, the Alternator tested.

Might also have EACH battery independently Load Tested, to be sure they are BOTH in equal condition... to each other.

just FYI there is a huge load at start up with the glow plugs .. they stay on for up to 2 minutes ,, not in concert with the wait to start light .. after they go off most weak systems can bring the charge up // I would check it ll like suggested
