Hi James,

I went with two 850cca "Yellow Top" Gel-cells, from SEARS. Prolly paid Premo but there is a SEARS anywhere you go. Big Plus for me.

I'v had them for about a year.. NO problems what so ever.

:dunno

JOE

Yellow Tops aka Optima are NOT Gell Cell batteries.

They are in fact, Absorbed Glass Mat Batteries.

Just FYI :sweet

Also,

You wouldn't want Gell Cell Batts in your Truck because most of them can't handle the engine starting duties.

I went the cheap route and got two Durastart batterys with a 5 year warrenty and 1000 cold cranking amps. Go with a higher rated battery and you should be ok. -25 last winter and sitting outside and it fired right up. Did you here it and see the smoke from there??

I run Motorcrafts and have had excellent luck with them. I changed out the original batteries in my 96' last winter but I put the old ones in my 75' and they are still going strong. The batteries in our Excursion are also original. Our 95' explorer also has the original Motorcraft. The Motorcrafts stay clean on top(no acid overflow)and they just last forever. I did a poll a year or two ago over at that other site and the Motorcraft was the highest rated choice. There are many mid 90's psd's out there still running the original batteries. 10-12 years out of a battery speaks for itself..

Okay, I stand Scientificaly corrected. Thanks. Whatever they actually are.. I'm happy with them, if for anything else.... less maintenance factors.

JamesF250 was about to buy new Batts. I posted my .03 about Gell-Cells, in what I thought, was an un-bias..... Just something to think about.

I aint very eloquent or articalate in my typeing skills. One fingered, type it like I think it. I'll be a bit more cautious.

:sorry ;) :)

I have a friend who lives near Brians truck shop and use him for all the work done on his 99 F-350. Brian says to stay with the batters that came in your Ford Truck. So he went and got two new Motorcraft batters and is very happy with them.:thumbs

I'm going to have to agree with Brian on that one. Original batteries in truck from 6/99 to 1/05, bought Napa batteries at that time and had one replaced early this month under the free replacement warranty. Living in MN thinking about biting the bullet taking out the Napa batteries and buying the gell cells and being done with it. Being stuck on a lake -30 degrees with dead batteries is not a good feeling! Two winters ago took 4 hours in that condition to get the truck to fire windchill factor was -50!!!
