I'm supprised nobody mentioned synthetic oil as tool for longevity along with filtration.
What's a normal non load pulling temp? Yesterday I ran around in 86* and my temp gauge was clocked at 200 max a few times, but I was playing with accelloration and getting on it. In about 70* and below it barely gets off of 140?

97crewcab, slight correction on the ""only difference"". The 4r100 uses a pwm (pulse width modulated) torque converter clutch system. Instead of the tcc being either on or off, it is graduly applied. The on off system is better and I "think" some of the aftermarket controllers actually command the tcc on the 4r100 to come on faster.

Normal operating temp according to my manual is 150 to 180.
