ok, stupid question, but its been buggin me and i was hoping someone could help me out, i've had the trans command on my truck for prob almost a year now, back then i had mistakenly thought the 00 powerstrokes had E40D's....now when i ordered my converter last week, the guys at suncoast filled me in on my mistake, ok.....so my question is, does the trans command have to be for the 4R100 or the E4OD??...i thought there were two diff part numbers for it, but along the same lines when i put it in the instructions said if its installed wrong you will know it! lol......are the electronics between the two trannies the same? my trucks always shifted fine, and the trans command def helped, just wondering if somehow i assured a death to the tranny, lol...the only annoying thing the tranny does is under full power on level 3 or up on the 3rd gear shift it hangs out for a bit and then BAM, it hits hard....it did that before the trans command also, so i figured it was just the tranny/converter, maybe the lockup on the stock converter just being stupid...well i've ranted enough, thanx for any info guys!!

The only difference between an E4OD and the 4R100 is the center bearing support is larger in the 4R100 than in the E4OD. On another note if you are going to spend the time and money to change the converter get a good one such as the ATS Triple lock converter. Altough just Be for warned that a decent converter is going to rip the guts outta your stock tranny.

Ironically enough I'm sitting in the Banks waiting room and I asked them. According to the source you need the 62570 transcommand for the 4R100.

hey guys, got some info for ya, i decided to call banks myself a bit ago, i told the guy my situation, then he proceeded to check the differences if any there are between the two trans commands for the E40D and the 4R100, then he told me there's no difference, lol...which was kinda obvious being how my truck shifted fine the past year, he even said, "why do we make two then?"....kinda funny i thought, it at least put to rest my worries, as dumb as they were, :thumbs

I've been using a Banks Transcommand for about 2 years now and I love it. Works great. Tranny definitely has a firmer feel to it.

only problem with the trans command is the way they are programed they continually raise line pressure to compersate for slippage not bad right? But the truth is when the tranny does finaly give out more often then not the extremely high line pressures take out a number of hard parts(none wear items) along with all the excess stress on the the pump over time ussualy takes the pump with the tranny. A Better solution to allow the tranny shift better and last longer is to 1. Put a good full Shift Kit in them. (This should only be 75 -100 bucks by far cheaper than a trans command) 2. Put an extra deep aluminum tranny pan on it.( Such as the Mag HyTech. You Really sould have one even with a trans command) 3. Transmission Temperture Gauge ( I cant count how many trannys ive seen blow up because people over heat them. This is a nessacity kinda like having 4 round and alike tires.)

Like 97crew said, go with a shift kit or sonnax/tricumulator or valve body.

Electronically improving the shift is good for wear items, bad for everything else.

The deep sump is stilol a huge debate I'm not going to get into.

A good tranny temp guage will tell you alot about the life expectancy of the unit.

I installed a new tranny cooler out of an 04 model and a temp gauge.

Banks still swears by the Trans Command and Trailering Life recently did an article supporting it. No offence to anyone but does anyone have knowledge of any specific case of a person losing a tranny because of the Trans Command. Or any idea how long your tranny will last with one installed. I want my tranny to last a long time and I would take mine out in a flash if I could be shown that it is actually damaging or causing premature wear to the tranny.

My understanding is that the Trans Command only kicks in when you are hard on the throttle or towing a heavy trailer. :)

on my 1992 the transcommand after nearly 20k miles started enhancing a developing problem it would shift from 2nd to 3rd withthe force of a hammer to the back of head unless your where pushing the throttle to the floor, then it was smoooooth
turned out to be the old TPS on the inj pump.
I was very impressed with the quality of the banks turbo sidewinder i put on the old IDI it was just a little pricey around 3100 if i recall right. but it worked and fit as advertised.
i will second there stuff and their tech support.
but i just cant see the $$$ for the 6.0 stuff
