I live about 40 miles from Enterprise, it's now 10:30 pm Thursday. Slight wind damage, a tornado briefly touched down several miles from here. The same storm system that spawned the tornado here spawed another in Enterprise. The town is shut down and the National Guard has been activated, they are enforcing a dusk to dawn curfew. At least the death toll has been revised down to eight.
We are under a tornado watch until 4 am Friday morning. And I strongly recommend that those who do not yet have a NOAA Weather Radio, get down to your local Radio Shack or other fine retailer and BUY one. Make sure that the radio has SAME technology, the NWS offices cover several counties, and our local office covers Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle. SAME allows the radio to only respond to weather alerts and warnings that affect your particular county.
And yes, when the alert tone goes off, the sound is enough to rouse the dead.
