Bama: CCV MOD Pics ?

I have mine open to the world. I know it's not right, but I am concerned about a "catch and filter" setup. If you create a positive pressure in the head due to a clog, you may end up blowing out VC gaskets or oil pan gasket. One person even went as far as potentially blowing out turbo seals, but I don't see how that could be.

its a legit concern, which is why i think the racor systems are better...
they return the "air" just like the factory does...so pressure and/or vac.
are still circulated (as designed).

its not like the factory set up couldnt be CLOG'd any more than
a system passing & filtering the air could....sure theres more PARTS
in a filtering ccv BUT id rather trap the oil than let the engine keep
circulating it.

the fact of the matter is that these epa mandated ccv re-ingestion
set ups is a JOKE...the misty oil STILL leaks or collects on crap which
eventually someone needs to RINSE off (down a shop drain/grate or driveway) ;)

at least if i catch it in a container i can haul it for recycling :D

personally now that i know the construction of this guys offering i have
a TOUGH time paying 99 bucks for some PVC (and ive STILL got to supply my
own HOSE)...and i cant help but to wonder if that isnt why hes reluctant to
produce photos (i mean 'cmon theyre already ON the INTERNET)

I'd like SOMETHING that can be cleaned out (even if the "filter" doesnt need replacing)...
ive seen several systems built from PVC that include 3m scotch brite pads and copper
brillo type filtering media....i dont know whats unique enough about this guys offering
for a pat. to be awarded...sounds to me like someone is draining his pockets of $

From all the others I knew of and talked with about this sellers product, they have had no complaints.

He did use to supply all of the hose and fittings, but S&H was costing way more than what those
materials cost to buy yourself.

for gawdsake dont tell 02oilburner...but i think all this guy did was
increase his PROFIT when he stopped supplying the rubber hoses.

theres no way in HELL hes got more 10 bucks in material cost in
that painted PVC....im glad he can make 'em and sell 'em...im looking
for a cheaper alterative (to the racor) and one thats a either metal
or allows cleaning/filter changes.

I agree that the factory system could get clogged as well, but the vacuum created on that short run should pull what ever through. On a remotely located canister there is a ton of hose to get something unstuck. I know that this would be a worst case scenario and not very likely.

I'll take a look at the Racor stuff here is a sec, thanks for the link. i too like the idea of being able to clean/replace the media. Even though in the end, the whole thing is somewhat of a joke. Oil mist in the air or oily degreaser going down the alley, it's still going into the environment.

how much "spotting" do you get on the rear of your truck from the venting...

Mine exits under the truck at the end of the T-Case or so. You can tell there is a light oily film in the general vicinity, but that's about it. There is a drop of oil hanging on to the end of the hose, but I have yet to see it hit the ground. My "catch" receptacle (6"x3/4" pipe capped) has not had drainable oil in it during the two years it has been in place.

sounds good...the only OTHER benefit i can see w/ a FILTERED
return (other than catching the oil) is that on the VACUUM (what
little there is in a diesel) youve got less chance of injesting some
DIRT (than w/ an open/vented system).

If it returns air back to the system, where do you tap in to do this? I can understand just directing it all out of the system, but where to run the return line to?

Additionally, the filter media inside (scotch pads or whatever) don't restrict it too much, and allow it to catch the oil yet still have air flow through the filter and out to the "clean side?"

And finally, this cracked me up.
