Sorry to single you out Bama, but after searching the forums, your name came up with the info I may need.

Took truck to be inspected. Says front rotors are cracking. I know they are about four years old, ? miles, but I want to get better than Advanced/Autozone rotors. So I searched the sponsors here, and over there, and found three that I am considering. I would love to have opinions and fact as to which would be the way to go.

I also see that the Hawk pads seem to be the favorite ones. I use Performance Friction Carbon Metallics now. Would these be OK with the Cryo rotors, or go with the Hawks for better performance? And which Hawks should I go for for mostly daily driving and weekend fifth wheel pulling?

I know it is allot of info I am looking for, but I know you all can handle it :thumbs

i love the cryo rotors, i do alot of towing. they have been on for almost a year, and they look like brand new.

i used the hawk superduty pads, but be prepared, when your just running around town, they will squek alot because of the compound make up. they are designed to work at their best when under a heavy load.

they do make a light duty/SUV pad that may be more suitable for your needs, that is what i will probably go with next.

i bought mine thru SECO performance stores. you can call power slot's headquarters and talk to a company rep. i did, and they were very helpful in helping me get the right parts for my truck. and they do recommend using the hawk performance pads with their rotors.

the cryo process was about on average 40.00 per rotor. they take about 60 hours to be treated.

hope this helps, let me know if there is anything else you need to know.

BTW, forgot too mention the price.

for all 4 rotors, the cryo process, and the hawk superduty pads, it was around 731 and some change.

i bought these before joining SDD, so by mentioning SECO perf., that doesnt mean that the sponsers on here dont have these products.

when i ask power slot who carried them, and if there were any dealers in my area, SECO was the closest store, only about 45 minutes from home, and i am over in the huntsville, al area alot.

i think discount power parts carry them too.

one other thing, and i think most here would agree. i would not use a rotor that is drilled, it takes away more surface area for pad to rotor contact, and are prone to warping.

Thanks for the input.

Another thing I am after. Anyone have a good write up for caliper slid re-greasing? Or should/can I just buy new ones?

Thanks again.

As long as the boots are good on the caliper slides just clean them, re-lube 'em and you should be good to go. None of the aftermarket slides seem to be as good as the originals. I would recommend using sil-guide instead of grease. Sil-guide is silicone based and seems to last a lot longer. It is designed for caliper slides.

I had the same problem with my rotors cracking until I installed a set (4) of power-stop (power slot) rotors and hawk severe-duty pads. My rotors are cross drilled and vented on all 4 corners. I have not had a problem since. It was around $850US to do all 4 corners.

i'm still runnin stockers right now. but my buddy has slotted/drilled front rotors on chev 1500 z71 and they warped after about 2 months of driving. i think i'll stay with a solid rotor...but them slotted/drilled rotors look GOOD:sly

I've had my cross drilled and slotted rotors on for almost a year without any problems.
