I just got back to the house and checked my e-mail. I get weather bulletins from the National Weather Service regarding severe weather. Arkansas is supposed to get slammed in the next day, Oklahoma got clobbered, and now I hear I-10 is closed from San Antonio to Fort Stockton due to ice.

All of you please be careful out on the roads. I haven't met you guys eyeball to eyeball, but I would hate to see news of a SDD forum member hurt or worse due to an accident.

There's nothing more dangerous than people in the South trying to drive in a snow or ice storm. Like Sgt. Esterhaus on Hill Street Blues said:

"HEY! Let's be careful out there!" :sweet

Ray we are fine here, just cold. We got all most 10 in of rain from Friday night tell Monday AM. Then it started turning cold. Was 16 Monday night, 20 Tuesday night and they say 26 for a low tonight. Now they are saying rain turning to snow on Saturday night and Sunday. I have a 1/2 cord of word on the back porch so we are staying in and warm.
Hope you guys & gals in Texas are staying safe. Ray, thanks for asking.

So far haven't been involved in a fender bender. Still have power and satellite T.V. and watching my 3y/o son play in the falling snow with the dogs was a hoot.

Well, I can understand what you mean, but it definitely IS possible, you just gotta SLOW DOWN.

Of course there comes a point where you're better off staying home than going out and endangering you life and property. I usually kick it in four wheel when it gets nasty and take the back roads. :D

You southerners.....I've been waiting for snow since late October. Got my new tires since last year, more weight than last year (I got stuck in a 12" of powder last year). I was debating on getting my tires studded for the winter but decided that was an expense I didn't need. Glad I didn't. Here at school (Flint, MI) we finally got some ice this past weekend (about 1.5" then 4" of snow), so I decided to see what I could do. I had no problems whatsoever. Next time the roads are covered the rope and sled will come out. I don't think there has been a dusting of snow at home (Northwest Ohio).

pdt1081. Hasn't this been a horrible winter? And what do the people of Flint think of the big Ford driving around up there? Im about halfway between NW Ohio and Flint. As for the Texan's :roflmao I drive a 2 wheel drive F250 at work and don't have and problems in the snow or ice. I saw news clips from Tex and some guy in a Honda or something was losing it on the highway before he ditched it. :roflmao

we are expecting up to 12" of snow over the next couple of days starting tonight. I need some firewood. Bet the price just went way up! I had to drive to Amarillo a couple of days ago and it took 3.5 hours to go the 120 miles! Slick as snot on a doorknob! I sure hope we get a lot tonight and close the court tomorrow! Y'all be safe.

You were here and didn't call?:tounge

We are expecting about half of what Lubbock is. We'll see how much freezing drizzle and rain we get first.

Firewood is kinda scarce around here these days.
