back-up lights?

hi all, sometime back their was a thread about hooking up your back up lights , anyone know where that is??? not a good holiday for us i lost my brother just before Christmas, a time for familys to be together ,, love each other..

Hooking up back up light to what? Are you installing more lights? Sorry to hear about your brother.

i have a '96 f-250 and want to put extra lights on,i need more light,stock just won't give enough, i saw a thread sometime back about running a wire to the tranny and it gave the color coded wire on that switcher that's on the drivers side . thank for acknowledging my brother.. dante59....

Sorry to hear about your brother. When i installed my backup lights i ran the wire up into the tail light and spliced into the stock backup light wire.

sorry to hear about your brother.


there is 3 ways you can do this.first you can run a wire up to the tranny switch,second you can splice into the wires at the tail lights or third you can splice into your trailer wireing if you have the tow package.

i remember reading a thread also, where a member had his backup lights on a 3 way switch.

1. they would come on when he put it in reverse, just like the factory ones do.

2. he could make them come on anytime

he used a relay i believe to accomplish this.

Condolences first, Dante. It has been a rough last 1/2 of year here too, and especially hard on families at holiday times. I think it's best to have a family get together to help each other...

I recall the thread too...maybe it was on the Wiki site, and I guess that's not up yet, with the new server upgrades. There was a pretty elaborate setup, like Bama describes. Maybe the Wiki will be back or it is, and I'm blind...
