I have been reading the Wildcat website, and seems that most of the 5th Wheels and trailers coming off the assembly line have alignment problems.
I took ours to the shop, and we had problems also. Since our 5th wheel is new, it was under warranty, but if I had not been made aware of the problem, I would not have checked. Also be aware of units being delivered without balancing the tires. I good idea would be, before buying a new unit, make it a condition of purchase to have the axles and wheels aligned and tires balanced before you pay your money. Our alignment mechanic said that all the manufacturers are having alignment problems from the factory. Eyeballing it is not good enough.

Wow, that sounds good. I would surely want to pay an extremely large sum of money for something that wasn't put together right in the first place. That would be like buying a new SD and the front tires were out of alignment.-mad

I just had my enclosed cargo trailer in, after a year 3 of the tires are worn bad on the edges. I noticed that the hubs on one side were 1.25" FURTHER apart from the other side. The axles were actually welded on in the wrong place. Dealer rewelded everything where it belonged and ordered me 3 new tires :sweet

Maxtor, What kind of a place does this kind of work? I would think it would have to be a trailer shop of some kind. What is the cost of this job?
I have 4 new tires on my trailer that cost a lot of money and I want them to last as long as they can.

Hey WD;

The company I went to is All Wheel Alignment in Redding Ca. They specialize in alignments and work on big trucks, trailers, 5ers, motor homes etc. The cost for them to check both axles was $79 if there is not a problem. If there is a problem, then the cost is $250 total to fix both axles. In our case, the right front axle was forward more than it should have been, and one wheel was toed out. The mechanic said that if we had pulled the 5er for any distance, it would have worn the tires prematurely. It said that alignments work in 1/16 inches, and some axles are out by more than 3/4 inch. It is near impossible to eyeball 1/16 of an inch. Also they check caster and camber. They also balance the wheels if needed. Your rv dealer should know of a good alignment shop.

Your trailer should pull real sweet from now on. I need to get ours checked out. I know of a trailer shop over in North Little Rock and I will be calling them soon. Thanks.
So all you need now is a new hip and some healing time and you will be ready to roll.:thumbs :thumbs -popcorn

Yep;

Last one, I was on the walker for first three weeks, then the cane for the next three weeks, then walking like a 20 year old until right hip decided to give out.
By December I should be ready to roll. Some of our friends go to the coast near Gold Beach Oregon for Thanksgiving week, so we might be good enough by then
to go. May 2008 we will out your way.
