I have a stock Ford trans behind 7.3 in F350 dually. When pulling a 6K trailer into the mountains on dirt roads up to 7000' and going only about 10-15 miles an hour the trans gets hot at times. (230+ degrees). I have it in 4 low so the motor stays reved up to move the tranny oil as much as possible. This seems to help. Would it be of benefit to have an auxiliary inline trans cooler installed one with a fan that I can activate from in the cab?

Thanks!

The 6.0 cooler is a big help. I added this to my 7.3 as i was having issues with the transmission getting hot while driving in deep soft sand on the beach. I would easily hit 230 and have to pull over and let it idle to cool down. After doing that and switching over to synthetic fluid...I was in much better shape.

6.0 cooler all the way. Synthetic fluid and I never see high temps.. If outside is 90* trans is 150*, 70* outside trans 130*. LOVE IT!!
