for a price like that Scot isnt it cheaper just to do a 58 gallon stock replacement for about $1,000 and you dont lose some bed space??

I would never spend 800-1200 on a 20 gallon gain. (58) the only way I would do it would be the 90 something in the bed tank. I guess it depends on your bed usage and what you want for your money. 1000 for a 20 gallon gain compared to stock is 50$ a gallon. Not worth it to me.

I guess I will chime in on this. I have put a 103 gal L tank in my pickup under my toolbox. I was looking at tanks for months and months before I put mine in. I went with a transfer tank that I found for $100. It was rusted on the outside but I used the steel brush on the grinder and then primed and painted it. I think that once I put the tank in, pump($30), inline filter($3), shutoff valve, hose, and welded nipples into my front tank I ended up paying maybe $250 for everything. I will try to get some pics of it. I have to go change the inline filter this morning.

Oh yeah and about the gravity feed thing I was reading on here. Don't even think about that. The DPS require a pump or a shutoff valve between your aux tank and your main tank. I talked with some professional installers about this. The have some electronic valves but they are $50. So what I used was a manual shutoff rightout of the tank and then inline filter then the pump. They said as long as you have a pump between the aux tank and the main that you are legal. I' try to get some pics like I said and post them on here.

PM me an e-mail address and I'll send you my paper on installing an aux fuel tank in the bed of your truck. It's not yet been through peer review and therefore, it's not on the web yet.

Thanks,

Al

I have a weathergaurd L tank in the back of the truck... Done it to every one I have ever had... Gravity feed, with a petcock to turn it off if I want... Never spilled a drop, 1600 miles before I need to fill up.

I want to add an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed of my truck. I was thinking about 25gal tank. Point me in the right direction..

IMO 25 is way too small. I have THIS 70 GAL VERTICAL TANK. I love it because it's only 13.5" deep so I don't lose bed space. It's as high as the top of my cross-the-bed tool box and is reasonably priced. I'd stay away from L shaped tanks.

+1, except I went with the Northern Tool/RDS 90 gallon vertical tank. One advantage, besides capacity, is having fill ports on both sides of the truck. The downside is that it's a ***** fitting it in the bed since it's 60" wide.

Good luck.

Al, that exactly why I didn't get their 90 vertical...the 60" !!!:cussing: . With my bedliner there was no way it was gonna fit. They're actually designed for flatbeds where it doesn't matter.

I'm looking for a locking gas cap for the tank but RDS is giving me a wrong NAPA p/n. Is your cap threaded or the two hook style? Mine is the two hook style but the RDS 91 gal tank/tool box combo has a threaded cap and that's the p/n they keep giving me.
