Just wondering I have a 2004 Harley 250 I run my hubs on the automatic setting at the wheel. when I get under I cannot spin the front driveshaft by hand.My friend has a 2006 and his will spin freely any thoughts will be a great help......
If I am not mistaken you wont be able to turn the drive shaft if both front tires are sitting on the ground because of the differential. Try jacking up one side and turn the tire and look at the u-joint in the front axle. If the hub is still engaged the axle will turn. I just replaced my auto lock hubs with a set of Warn manual lockout hub (11690). I love the hubs. I have actually picked up about 3/4 to a full mpg in my fuel milage since the frontend is no longer turning all the time. Hope this helps.
If BOTH SIDES ARE UNLOCKED, it should act the same as if the tires were off the ground. When I get the oil. filter & lube done, they sometimes have to turn the front driveshaft/axle to get to the grease fittings on the front driveshaft and front axle u-joints. They can't do that with my manual hubs locked.
