mossberg is sold. thanks Ironmerg...got any pics of you truck so I can keep an eye out. it's nice to see another person from omaha. I see plenty of modified powerstrokes around, it's just too bad they don't know about this site.

BCS-

you will like the franchi. its the same mechanism as the binelli. its is very much like the SBE-I's. you will be happy! just keep it clean and don;t overlube it.

benelli's & pricing: considering what you get for you money, the benelli's are good values. the comfortech guns come with a whole bunch of features that let you fit the gun to you. the crio barrels are almost worth the price jump alone. in my case, i am left handed so that eliminated many guns. your mileage will vary.

berettas- in general they are good guns. however, they took a PR hit with the crooked barrels on the last generation 39x's- and they are gas recoils. i would take a S/S or O/U beretta any day, but not an 39x over my SBEII.

well, i put a 100 rounds through the Franchi today and it worked great. twice, after a shot, I pulled the trigger, the hammer clicked but nothing happened. I checked both time and there was a shell in there. maybe it was because of the light loads. the franchi manual does say that this might happen during the break-in period. oh well, no big deal.

I even shot my best round of trap to date, with a 23/25. I was the only one on the range, so the thrower let me do a 6-clay volley in skeet, so I could check the cycling. The gun could only hold 5 total, so he paused 2 sec. for me to load the 6th shell that was in my hand. got 5/6, missed on the 5th clay.

I felt a little like Tom Knapp (just not as good). Looks like I'm good and ready for Dove season. 13 days and counting...

when did it happen? were you dropping the bolt after dropping a shell for first shot of was it the second shot?

that happened to me at first too. i think it was break-in related. it does nor happen to me any more.

iirc, it took a good 800+ rounds to break it in.

what loads are you shooting? i have shot 3/4 oz handloads and my SBEII cycles fine.

yeah, 3 days and counting.... and early goose too!

it happened when i was shooting trap. as per range rules I was only shooting one shell at a time. twice it didn't fire after i loaded one. I'm shooting 1 1/8 oz federal loads.

early canada and teal start on the 8th for us.
