Does it count if you lived in a house when you were a kid that had no conveniences: No electricity, running water, etc. My dad built the house that my mom now has, in 1957. Cleared enough land to build a 20' x 20' house in the woods, with not even a good road going to it at the time (just a logging trail). For the first summer, my mom cooked on a wood stove, and we had no electricity for the first few months (until we got a line run to the house, along with a propane tank). We hauled water from my grandparents' house a half mile away for two years until my dad dug a well mostly by himself with post hole diggers. Even though I'm "only" 59, this might make me an old fart!!!!!
