My company runs Duralene 15W40 Oils in all it's heavy excavation equipment including it's Diesel and Gas pick-ups all year round. I can get the stuff really cheap at company cost. Something like $2.00 a quart or less. I am wondering if it will be OK or if it will mess up my engine. I have not noticed any oil related failures in our equipment but ya never know.

Also, if you have any info maybe weigh in on running off road fuel as well. Sometimes I run errands for the company and they give me fuel. I had a gas truck, but now have a diesel. They have off road in transfer tanks on company pick ups.

Thanx

Off road diesel will cost you big bucks if you get caught running it in your truck. Your state will come after you for the tax money on the fuel, and from what I hear they want back payment for all of the miles on your truck.

Off road is not worth the risk. At least around here, the difference in cost is minimal. Last time I saw it, it was only a 25 cent savings.

You can use the motor oil if it meets the latest API CJ-4 specifications for heavy-duty diesel engine oils .

Check the bottle. If it says CJ-4 compliant, you are good.

Superdude, your truck won't mind the "Off road diesel" but the government will. Its called "Getting stuck". They pull you into a DOT stop and check for red dye. Chances are it won't happen. But if it does, you will be having a VERY bad day.
