Any Mn Grouse Hunters???

A couple of buddies and I are headed up to around Walker, MN the first weekend in October to chase Ruffed Grouse. We used to go up every year, but haven been up there in about 6 years.

We are hearing rumors that the numbers are going to be pretty decent this year. Just checking to see if I can get any local knowledge.

I haven't been grouse hunting in alot of years but the DNR surveys have it up 9 percent from last year. Its still on a rise during there ten year cycle starting again in 05. Looks good for a great hunt. We've had great pheasant numbers in southern Mn. the last couple of years.

Well.....we are headed up no matter what. I love it up there and can't want to get back into the "nort woods".

What roads are you coming up on? I live just about on #60 and #4 intersection. Tell me when your passing by and I'll try not to make any grouse sounds.

We'll be headed up 35 through IA and MN. Then we will probably take 494 around to 94 to 169 north. We'll take 169 north all the way to Lake Mille Lacs and then hop on 6 to Remer, MN. Then hop on 200 west to Whipholt, MN.

Hoping to arrive sometime after midnight on Oct 2 or early am of Oct 3.
