Was wondering if there are any long term issues that can arise from leaving your EGR Valve unplugged?

This is the second time this year it has gone out. Last time I didn't know that was what it was and you could unplug it and I had to pay a tow truck to come and get it. I have heard of people leaving it unplugged but I didn't know what kind of problems this might cause. Thanks for the help.

Mine has been unplugged for awhile now, and (Knock on Wood) I have not seen any adverse side effects.....At least not yet. Also worth mentioning is that I do plan on buying one of the complete egr delete kits very soon.

On edit....I have roughly 20K miles on her since unplugging the EGR.

I've had mine unplugged for a good 3 years now.

Just make sure you unplug the connect with the engine OFF.

iirc: you want to have the truck off when unplugging

Thanks for the posting the pic...:sweet

Yes you are right the truck needs to be off and COLD (to ensure the EGR valve is closed when you unplug it).

Jason- If you down at your oil filter(standing in front of the truck) You will see the back end of a pigtail at about 7 oclock(in relation to the filter). Thats the pigtail to your EGR valve.
