Diatomaceous Earth aka DE. Great stuff, you can use it in the house, outside and it's harmless to pets and kids. The stuff kills ants and other bugs by destroying their outer shell and then they die. They also take it back to their nests where it passes on down the line. Very inexpensive and available at Loew's, Home Depot, Walmart and most any garden store.

You need to find the nest/colony and throw a Molotov cocktail...

:sweet Thats the key. I tried every kind of ant killer that is sold and it didn't even slow them down until I found there house and burned it down. Have not seen a ant in several years. You need a good ant tracker to find there house ;)

Finding the house the the problem, they disappear into the tree and the post on the house.

I have DE and borax but I have nowhere to sprinkle them.

I used DE on some carpenter ants once, it worked great.

Not Borax, boric acid. It chases them off and kills them. It also does a number on roaches. In you case, I would dust the inside of the clothesline, and anything on it attached to the house. You could probably even spray it inside the tubing. I hate the things.

you need to not only kill them but more importantly get rid of the scent trail they are all following to get to "food" (your house).

D.E. is available at any pool supply store. It's used in pool filters. And it's pretty cheap.
I will try it out on my ants. I hope it works.
