I've had my truck for close to 3 months now. I was checking the fluid levels earlier and found that I need to fill in some engine coolant. I looked through the owners manual and found that I need to use the yellow-colored anti-freeze, motorcraft VC-7A or VC-7B. The local parts store only has the Prestone brand, and I got the yellow anti-freeze. Before I fill this stuff in, will this be OK? This Prestone Yellow that I bought says that it is universal.

Just want to be sure,

Thanks,

X3 get the motorcraft gold only, no tap water also. How come you need to add? Unless it is leaking somewhere it should not go down much if any.

Motorcraft Gold. Ford should test your coolant at no charge. My coolant level runs at the "Minimum" line.

As Jet said, no tap water. Use only distilled water in a 50/50 mix. This keeps the minerals out of the cooling system. I run a coolant filter, as do others here. Check out www.dieselsite.com for more on the coolant filter.
