Tested my coolant last week, no CA4. went down to supply house, they said its not uncommon for the dealer to neglect putting it in. For about thirteen bucks my liners are protected. You all may want to check yours soon.

What color is your coolant?

Since this is in the 6.0 forums and you haven't filled out sig I would guess you have a 6.0 which should not have green coolant in it. Green is the the coolant that needs SCA added. Gold coolant, which has been used since '02 I believe, doesn't not need SCA maintenance and is supposed to be changed every 100k miles. If you have gold and added some SCA that's used for green coolant you are going to need to have the system flushed and changed. There is a way to check the "gold" protection level but it's not with the same strips as the green.

I personally changed to Fleetrite Heavy Duty ELC which is red.:wow: It's good for 600K miles without maintenance according to the container.

Sorry I took so long to reply, Roosterdiesel, my coolant is green. I remember reading about orange coolant but didnt really think about it. Where did you get the fleetrite? Truck is a 6.0. Scot, CA4 is an additive used to prevent cavitation between the cylinder liners and the coolant. At the moment of combustion the cylinder liner expands, when it returns to its original size after combustion it does so too quickly for the coolant to fill the space and creates an air bubble which ultimately leads to liner pitting and in some cases pinholes.

Your 6.0 shouldn't have "green" from the factory.:dunno

I got the fleetrite from International Truck dealer.

From what I can find on the net, Shell makes the Fleetrite ELC. They both fall under the category of Heavy Duty ELC I think. The OEM gold stuff doesn't even come close to mileage of the Shell or Fleetrite ELC. :roflmao
