Another question / problem

My ABS lght popped on tonite and the pedal will only go down about an inch but will still stop the truck. What might be wrong? Probably something elementary but I'm not aware of. Help? tate

Sounds like your vacume pump gave up.When mine went I only got the brake lite.

Now the ABS light is gone and the pedal depresses....only feels like the front brakes are working. What gives? Where is the vacuum pump? Thanks Tate

VP is under the AC compressor. take your fan belt loose and check the pully for slop and spin it , if there is no resistance prolly the diaphram is shot.

HAvent taken the time to take the belt loose. But the cruise works as do a/c. Will check for resistance in the am. Thanks tATE

since the air duct deflectors are vacuum controlled as well that's also a good determination of the vacuum pump but they don't take too much vacuum to operate so they only stop when the pump is completely shot.
