When i first start the truck volt gauge stays low and lights are dim for several minutes then comes up to normal. Some times at night with all the lights on when i push in on the clutch and fall to idle the volt meter falls and lights go dim, but when i start back up volts go back up until i go to idle again.
-Things i usually have on: Head lights, couple aftermarket lights, CB, Radar Detector, usually heater and blower (i can usually see a differnece with the blower off or on)

so is it normal or is alternater goin or batteries????

Thanks yall:thanks
Neal

There is a time delay before the alternator goes on line at full voltage. It can take something like 30 - 45 seconds. The load does not seem to matter.

The glow plugs take alot of power. When the volts come back up and the lights get brighter it is because the GPR just shut off. It is normal, nothing to worry about.

Ditto on the GP cycle but if you don't see the voltage drop when driving without your headlights on when you depress the clutch, upgrade your headlight wiring harness. Get a 30816 harness .
