Who all has the allergy testing done where the doctor jabs you with a needle for something like 3-4 hours with various allergens?

I go in tomorrow for this procedure to see what allergy/ies have been causing me to get respiratory infections for the past couple years and lately the lymph nodes enlarging :rant

my sister had it, she said it sucked for the first 15 minutes, but she said they put the tv on and you grow numb to the stabbing and the nurses just do thier thing, and before you know it you are done.

Big K is right, Bill. It isn't too bad. I came away with itching more than anything else. They don't really inject you, but scratch the allergens into the skin.

I went thru it when I was just a young'n. Back then it was torture for a boy that wasnt even 10 yet.

They stuck my back several times and then I had like 8 shots in each arm.

I hated every minute of it. After all that, I took allergy shots each month for several years.

Now my 3yo has been thru it too, and it was nothing like what I went thru.

You can do it Bill, just take a towel to roll up and bite down on. :lmao

Ten years ago it was two round wheels with tiny needles each containing an allergen. They index your back with a marker for ID purposes then roll the wheels up your back.........then use a few individual tiny needles for additional testing.

No real pain...........just some irritation.

My daughter had it done at the tender young age of 6, it wasnt bad from a parents point of view Bill. She had one of those panels done that would be similar to the picture of the back in Kevins link.

I had it done 30 years ago. From what I can remember they poked 3000 holes in my back and then put itchy stuff in all of them. Can't really say I enjoyed it but what 10 year old would. I had a few serious allergy's and was actually close to death. I had been to the local doc but he was a bit old fashioned. He told my Mom that allergy's were just something you have to live with. At the specialist that poked the 3000 holes in my back we were told that I was getting about 60% of the air I needed and it would have only gotten worse. A couple of years worth of weekly shots fixed me all up and I now have very few allergic reactions to anything. My biggest allergy was house mites but after the shots I am not even allergic to them at all. Long story short the 3000 holes in my back were worth it. Take a chunk of 1/2" wood dowel to bite down on and you will do fine ;)
