This C-17 landed at a really small air field. This field is inline mac Dill AFB field. It's about 3 mile away. This so far is the largest plane so far to land there but not the first. Most of the time it happened it was fighter jets that would end up there. This small field just had there runway add too. In the video when they pan the camra you'll see a yellow ish color 2 story house. That house was hit by a plane landing, burn the house down to the ground. Lucky the kids just left the house for school.

And demoted. One of the big rules of flying is to know WHERE you are landing. He didn't.

From '90 to '95 I can't recall how many times those took off from McClellan AFB in Sacramento while I was filling my truck at the cardlock where the planes blew over my head just 300' or so, hands over the ears was not enough!!!!! Thanks for the share!

We landed a B-52 at Billings, Montana in 1990. My pilot's parents live in Laurel near Billings. So it was sort of a 'hometown lad does good' thing.

Landing there was on purpose for an airshow they were having.
It was a tight squeeze. We had to transfer fuel to get the tip gear wheels up off the ground. They were 150' apart and the taxiway was significantly narrower than that. If we hadn't got the tip gear wheels off the ground, they would have been rolling through the grass.

I remember landing a couple of times in Billings when I worked with an oil company. Was in a Convair 580 and I remember the landing strip was on the edge of a cliff. A bit scary for me. This was in 1985.
