Joe, to give a little more detail on the k&n problem I had, the mass air flow sensor element inside the opening would get a build up of cotton/oil/dirt on it, to the point that it would stop sensing the air rushing by it, and turn on my ses light. To me it looked like I never would have known, had it not been for the sensor, because everything behind it was still clean. Kinda made me nervous, thats all.:watchout

;tu Thanx b r, I'll keep an eye on that.

Jim ? From my end.. yer more than welcome.

Donaldson filters are great. They are a lot better than K&N. Don't take my word for it. It is YOUR truck.

I didn't realize that it mattered whether it is a 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, etc... on Cold air vs more air..

I have a 2001 Ford F250 4X4 w/7.3L PwrStroke. I have added a whicked wheel, and I have made my own AIS type Air box with my factory air box. Cut a hole like the AIS and made my own Funnel to the Wheel well, However I am using a K&N, which I guess is a big mistake....

Has anyone used or know anything about the TRUE FLOW air filters? I was told they are made a lot like the Donaldson AIS Filters are made....

Thanks to everyone for the Education!!!

JIM

the k&n that you're using will definitely give you trouble! the drop in ones like that are too thick and stretch your factory air box causing it to not seal correctly. sooner or later you'll start sucking dirt.

dont as how i know this:innocent

Donaldson is very common in the trucking world, these engines run 24/7 alot of the time-not to mention 1,000,000 miles or more. I'd say they must know how to make a filter, imo
