RSG,

DPPI is a warehouse for the AFE products, no engineers here etc. The Stage I with standard media increases flow by 150% per AFE, the PG7 will be 3-4% less. The Stage II is considerable more but I don't have a number for you.

All the systems use powder coating and amlost all have a place for the air minder, but don't pay any attention to the air minders. Unlike Class 8 minders these are pertty poor at being accurate! Cleaning is impossible to say how often as it is based on where you live, west Texas vs Wisconsin etc. Usually 8,000-12,000 miles is a good average. After a while of owning one you'll see what you need to do etc.

By the way the PG7 is 99.5% efficient at stopping dirt, very good for a diesel engine.

All

Thanks for everybody's help. I pulled the trigger on this purchase tonight and elected to buy from Diesel Truck Performance (thanks Mark!). :sweet

I sure hope this is as sweet as it seems! :p

Ok, it is 2 weeks later. The box arrived while I was away. I want to install the AFE tonight. Checklist:
1. disconnect both batteries & remove drivers side
2. remove stock filter/housing
3. somehow install new stuff

Any details to share, warnings, cautions, advice, jokes...before I start!?

Well...the install of an aFE is pretty nice. No surprises. I really can't tell much difference in sound. I did notice that I'm hearing a rythmic surge or oscillation on the inlet but it was probably already there and this has amplified.

Here's my nitpick list for those considering the cost/benefits:

1. Probably will freeze my battery in cold weather -- need to find a blanket like is on the passenger side battery. Also am concerned about battery acid puddling on that pretty powder coat.

2. Vertical sheet separating engine from intake compartment is rather flimsy and needs some sort of stiffener (vibrates with hood open, wonder how it will handle the rough roads I run). Also smacks a fasterner on radiator shround occasionally.

3. Asked for a blue "sock" and got a yellow one (ok, now I'm really pickin nits)

I'll be hoping for a noticeable improvement in acceleration but haven't noticed it yet!
