I'm trying to figure out my options in an air filter/exhaust upgrade with my completly stock 2002 F350 4x4 7.3

I was looking at the Bully Dog products amung others. I know many of you guys have made this type of upgrade. Any difference with performance/milage? I guess I want my intake and exhaust to help my 7.3 breath better. Not looking to make the 7.3 a race vehicle, even a little more turbo whistle is fine.

Thanks

the DIY intake would be perfect for you, and also a LOT cheaper. you will get a little more whistle when you are stomping on it.

im not sure about mileage, i put mine on the same time we switched to ultralowsulfururinefuel, and saw no change positive or negative. im sure with other mods it would be very beneficial, and allow you to get the most out of any other mods you do.

this is just my opinion, and im not saying anything about the quality of product, but i feel that companies like bully dog and ESPECIALLY banks, you are paying a lot for a sticker to slap on your fender. the DIY stuff is just as good, and you can make it the way you want it, as well as keep your wallet fat.

here are pics of my OBS home grown intake. the bracket for the filter is actually for a big rig muffler, i had to cut it a few inches shorter and it works PERFECT!

ok i guess the pics arent working at the moment....ill try to post them later

just look in the WIKI.

It's been called the Tymar, DIY, and 6637 intake, and it takes all of 20 minutes to do...

TikiWiki : DIY Large conical style air filter

exhaust wise, I'm the same as you; I'm waiting for the moon to be made of green cheese (or something on the factory system to rot)
myself, I'm gonna go with a Walker DynoMax system, that way, if I do something stupid like back into a snow back or a stump and bent a pipe, damage a muffler, etc.. I call NAPA and have a replacement later that day or the next.. no screwing around wating for UPS to show up three days later after having run over one of the pieces..

EDIT: are you talking a bully dog intake or programmer? if its intake, save your pennies and do the DIY intake. it will cost you about $50. other cheap mods would be to shim you fuel pressure regulator and a HPX hose.

if its a programmer/chip, skip the bully and get a real chip. dp tuner, twildman, etc... look at the classifieds in general and look at the number of chips for sale vs number of tuners.
