Air bags and Aftermarket Bumpers

How do the Airbags Activation sensors work? IE is it an Accelerometer or do they still use contacts? When I installed my winch Bumper I didn't see any kind of Contacts! Someone else asked me.

I could be wrong, but I believe they use accelerometers. I went through an airbag class put on by GM years ago.

on my 2000

it had sensors behind the bumper I believe. I changed the bumper up to an Ali-Arc unit. This time, I just added Roo Bars. http://www.aliarc.com/images/photogallery/15_440.jpg to each of my 350s
Not sure anyone properly answered the ? as to how it might affect the air-bags.

I'm don't think anyone here can tell you with any degree of certainty how an after market bumper MIGHT affect the SRS (airbag) system. There are a lot of variables involved. On the good side, there sure are an awful lot of trucks running around with those bumpers. So if it were a real No No, we would have heard something.

All sensors used for your 2001 Super Duty and 2006 Super Duty are contained within the AirBag module (computer) located under the center of the dash.
