the egt & trans gauge are the most necessary.
heres proof the factory trans gauge is nothing more than
an "idiot light" w/ a needle on it -->
LINK: VISUAL PROOF the Trans gauge is WORTHLESS

the 05+ trucks have a factory boost gauge but it leaves plenty
to be desired...not many markings and not much "sweep" so its
inherently inaccurate...if youre gonna add a boost gauge then
drill and tap the elbow (its reported that those who have not
drilled and tap'd for the boost gauge wind up w/ buzzing/noisy
gauge)

again the boost is nice to have but the EGT & Trans are more
important (no matter if you tow or not).

heres some gauge installation instructions specific to the 6.0L.
DieselManor - Installation Sheets

Hey,

I started to get in to this on another thread, if I hook up a bullydog PMT, will it be accurate enough with the stock probe? I don`t really have enough room for more gauges.

Cheers
Jeff

I know a Coolant Filter would be yet another Mod/Add-on.. but IMO, a Real Good One. I used one of the un-used ports on the return side of the Coolant filter.

Yer getting Real Time engine temp, just before the coolant returns to the recovery tank.

I've watched engine temps move between 200 & 205* during Hard Pulls.. while that Idiot Gauge stays Frozen on the "R", of NORMAL. Another Testimonial of that worthless thing. Prolly better than a Temp Light.. but not much. I hardly even scan, or look at it anymore.

Kinda neat watching yer Thermostat open and close too.

engine coolant port??

I'll tell ya what to do there Melmount. Get ahold of one of our good supporting vendors on the phone, figure out what you want for gauges and get em ordered -should include instructions- (read 'em WELL) and then go for the install. If you get stuck, let us know, we can help you out...:sweet

I have my coolant sender teed into the heater hose (yes it is a great place to put it) or go ahead and do the coolant filter right away, tie it in there.

Yes. On a (Dieselsite) Coolant filter assembly kit, there's 1 inlet port on the top, and 3 outlet ports.. one on each side, one on the front. I used 1 of the 2 remaining out-let ports for the temp sending unit location. In my case, the front one.

Depending on where you would choose to mount a coolant filter, the choice of which one to use.. would be yours, based on convenience.
