AFE intake

I install it on my 03' , it makes a weird noise when you let go of the pedal, and also notice less power, and a cough when accelerating hard.
Anybody have a clue!
I went back to the original,and it seems fine.

do you have a 6.0 or 7.3? if you have the 6.0, the stock filtration system has been proven to flow enough air for applications up to 500 hp.

I have an AFE Airbox on my 2004 F350 and its definitely better than stock!!

The wierd noise when you let off of the pedal, was it a whining noise. If so, I have the same problem on my 05.

i can't speak to the 'power loss' but i am willing to bet that the other noise you are hearing is the TURBO WHINE.... and personally i love it. and i am stock and it still sings to me every day......

ITS NOT THE WHINE, I LOVE THE SOUND, ITS MORE LIKE A COUGH OR BACK FIRE FROM THE AIRBOX, I ASKED A FRIEND THAT WORKS FOR ORW IN CA. AND HE SAID THATS NORMAL.(HE HAS NOT HEARD THE COUGH) I PLAN TO PUT IT BACK ON,TO LET HIM HEAR IT.

I ALSO RUN 4" TURBOBACK FROM AFE, WITH 35" BFGS,NEXT I PLAN TO PUT A PROGRAMMER, ANY SUGGESTIONS (RELIABLE MID POWER)

what you hear is the exhaust back pressure release...its normal.

some refer to it as turbo 'fart'

our trucks dont have a waste gate on the turbo charger...they use
an exhaust back pressure set up that release the pressure back
into the airbox

I have a stage 2 on my 04 and love it and never had that problem. I did get the Pro7 and a outerware for it and it helps keep the big stuff from plugging the vains.
