Do any of you out there add sulpher fuel additive to your older model diesel pickups?
A friend told me that she is now adding it to hers due to the new fuel now having been changed.
What does this prevent?
Thanks

Adding sulpher to fuel is not going to help us out in the long run. You may not care, but I do. Find something other than sulpher to add. Diesel Kleen comes to mind. As do other additives.

The sulfur in the fuel/oil is a high pressure lubricant, as well as a rubber conditioner. without it, fuel system components arent getting the lubrication they were intended to have, and the rubber hoses are "drying out" and cracking/leaking. It is not 100% necessary to supplement your fuel, but it could (and probably will) prevent premature failure.

To my knowledge sulphur isn't a lubricant in diesel, it actually acts more as a biocide keeping growth at bay.

The process of removing sulphur is stripping out the lubricants in the fuel...not that actual missing sulphur is the cause to "drier" fuel

I've been running the 2 cycle oil also. My Truck runs & sounds better. 16oz per 25 gallons of fuel.

Get it at W-Mart for about 1.50 a 16oz jug.
