Howdy folks...
I have 2008 F250 XL as a work truck. Has power windows and locks, but no keyless entry. I'm interested in adding keyless to the truck. Does anybody have any suggestions/reccomendations/how to's? Thanks!!

:)

there are TWO versions of the key pads...

one BOLTS to the door, the other one is a stick on version
(basically the stick on version is nothing more than a key fob
remote w/ numbers on it).

sometime after 2004 or 2005 ford began offering the
stick on keypad as an ADD-ON, to any car or truck
that had a remote entry (key fob) system.

the version that bolts to the door is powered by a
wired/electrical connection. The bolt on version does
not send an RF signal to open the doors (like a key fob
would).

the "STICK ON" version used to be about 80 bucks direct
from ford (batteries may not be included, but are required
since its not a wired system).

I think if i were looking to add keyless entry <and did NOT have the key fobs> I
would stay away from the ford system.

The ford keyfobs and keypad are NOT an alarm system...theyre just a door
locking/unlocking convenience item.

our trucks NEED REAL alarm systems and for a few hundred bucks more (than the
ford keyless entry) you can get a REAL alarm system, w/ remote entry and remote
start/cool down as well as starter interupt)

the ford superduties are the #1 stolen vehicle...and theres a reason for it...
theyre easy to get into <and a LARGE percentage of 'em dont have alarms>

Gonna have to be keyless entry only. Have to do this myself under the radar because my employer won't pay for it, and I don't want to shell out that much coin for a full alarm system. Where I work, truck theft/break-ins have not been an issue. Does DEI make a system that installs fairly easy?

Also, want the remote fob style.

I think you can go to the local Ford dealer and buy a key fob and have it programmed. We bought a used Mercury a few years ago that only had one fob, and the salesman gave us one and had it programmed for us. I don't know how the programming is done, but I've heard it's pretty easy.

You can only get factory key fobs programmed to the vehicle if it came euqipped with the keyless entry from the factory, On the XL line it was not standard equipment.
