I see there are rebuild kits for these turbo's (00 F250), wondering if it's a good idea to get one of those when I do the ATS turbo housing upgrade? I've got 162K on the clock.
the ATS turbo housing and the "wicked wheel" accomplish the same thing while you're rebuilding do either one or the other upgrade to eliminate your turbo surge.
No piston rings, but there is sealing rings that look like a piston ring. I rebuilt my turbo and put a wicked wheel in it. I bought the kit off of ebay for $175 with a wicked wheel. It is realy easy to rebuild if you have any mechanical ability. Heres the link-
Have heard good things about the ATS housing, but yes if you are going to have the turbo off then go ahead and rebuild it. Because there is always that chance of cutting or damaging the gaskets or rings. Just my .02
I had a WW inmy truck it solved some of the surge but did not fix it. A while back I put the ATS on it with the Stock wheel the surge stopped. I also recomend rons turbo shop. I rebuilt my turbo for 94 bones. Off topic...I have a stock wheel if anyone wants to trade there WW for it..
