I see there are rebuild kits for these turbo's (00 F250), wondering if it's a good idea to get one of those when I do the ATS turbo housing upgrade? I've got 162K on the clock.

the ATS turbo housing and the "wicked wheel" accomplish the same thing while you're rebuilding do either one or the other upgrade to eliminate your turbo surge.

I've got the wicked wheel and it didn't help at all.

I see kits that have Gaskets, seals, bearings, collars, bolts, etc. for like $100.

as far as solving your surge problem then the ats housing would be advantageous

your rebuild kit should have thrust bearing assembly, radial bearings, backing plate seal, and piston rings

Wasn't aware turbo's had pistons????:D

I'm just talking a rebuild kit for the turbo itself. Like this kit. Is it something I should do since I'm going to have it apart?

Have heard good things about the ATS housing, but yes if you are going to have the turbo off then go ahead and rebuild it. Because there is always that chance of cutting or damaging the gaskets or rings. Just my .02
