OK, this has happened just recently, the AC compressor seems to have a small valve (?) at the back of it on the bottom side (close to where the 2 lines hook up). When I turned it on after a short while it spews gas from it. It used to blow super cold air and now it won't even get cool. Been 98 here in TN and HUMID as all get out. I got a charge can from Advanced and the needle reads right at the blue and green (recharge and good). When I put some in (until the last 2 days) it would work for a couple of days then all of a sudden spew it out. Any Ideas (hopefully a cheap fix?). Thanks in advance for the info, I LOVE THIS SITE AND ALL THE HELPFUL PEOPLE HERE!

Thanks, can one buy this valve or should I buy the hose assembly that it is attached to? Then guess that I would have to have it vacuumed and refilled by someone other than, me.

You say it was in the blue after the spewing? Could it be overcharged when you add?

No the gauge said about 23lbs before I charged. The reason I charged is because it spewed (originally) and the vent got warm air coming out. I check it with the gauge and it gave 23lbs (needs charged to between 25 to 45lbs). So I charged to about 29lbs. Ran fine for a day then setting at sons soccer camp running it looked like the truck overheated (spewed gas out) and I opened the hood to check to see if I could see where it came from. I saw it coming out of the back of the compressor (at the hose, there is a valve (?) type assembly there) it was coming from the valve at the back of the compressor at the hose assembly connector from that little valve. Since then it has done it a couple of more times. No matter how much I fill it. It had NEVER done this before, it always blew ICE COLD air no matter how hot it was outside. Maybe the hose assembly. I don't have bucks to throw at it, I could always roll the windows down, but the wife doesn't want her hair messed up.....

Boy that's a new one on me, maybe it is just a bad valve like JL said earlier. Problem is, there's no way to test it that i know of. Might just have to replace it and see what happens. Hopefully it isn't a whole hose assembly. Ford would be able to tell ya, but you might not want to know! p.s. The wifes hairdo could get expensive too, if you don't fix it! fwiw
