My truck is an 06 and the ABS light comes on for a while then goes out for a short while and then back on. Any idea of what the problem is?

could be the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) located on the top of the rear axle. Disconnect it, clean the contacts and reconnect. Cheap and easy thing to eliminate.

Does anyone have the part# for the VSS in an '06? I just went to the dealership and they want to charge me $120 for one and had to order it in. Maybe the parts dude is on drugs and picked the wrong sensor??

Truly wierd. I'm in Canada but the exchange rate difference shouldn't make that much of a difference. I did some Googling around and found a reference to another Part# - F85Z-2L373-AB. Typical prices on the internet for that one seem to be around $30 but maybe it is for an older model or something. I'll be going back to the stealership tomorrow to see what they got in for me. The Part# they ordered was a Motorcraft# DY-1073.

??

What the stealership gave me for the VSS for this truck (2006 F350) was part# 6L3Z-9E731-A (DY-1073) for a bargain price of $116 CDN. Ouch!! The parts guy said it is superceded to this.

Must be a "New & Improved" part.. With a "New & Improved" price.

So much for the 30 dollar fix. :(

Joe,

I remember when you ordered the truck you wanted because they didn't keep the heavy duty trucks on the smaller dealers lots and it was $5,700. Everything seems to have an improved price. That same truck is now about $35,000.
