Bama, I had a similar problem, I had a bad wire in my main loom going into the firewall. The dealer didn't know anything about it, It took me poking around my loom with a prybar to bring the problem to the dealers attention.

bama, check it for codes. even though the light isnt on, you may have a temp sensor fault that could steer you in the right direction.

how is it idling, smooth or rough? i wonder if you have an injector that is firing inconsistently, possibly coming on harder at times causing the rev up.
