Gents,
those of you that follow the news may remember this little gem from a few years back...

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/07/22/60II/main710981.shtml

Craig Sorger was my cousin (well, second cousin, to be exact, he was my first cousins oldest son).

THe most recent news is here...

http://www.komotv.com/news/printstory.asp?id=36561

The smaller, younger of the two boys rolled over on his buddy recently. The story he gave in exchange for leniency goes as follows:

"In a confession recited by his lawyer, Eakin described watching his former fishing buddy, Evan Savoie, drop a rock on Sorger's head, then standing by as Savoie repeatedly stabbed Sorger. After being taunted by Savoie, Eakin said, he picked up a stick and pummeled Sorger until it broke. Then he picked up another stick and continued the beating. "

It goes on a little more...

"Eakin's confession casts the slaying in a new light. In a series of interviews with prosecutors over the past week, Eakin said Savoie planned to kill Sorger and the owner of a trailer court near the park that day; the second part of the plan was not carried out.

"I'm going to do it today, I'm going to do it now," Savoie told Eakin, according to the confession.

Sorger tried at least twice to run from his attackers. "Why are you doing this to me? Why are you doing this to me?" he cried, according to the confession.

After goading him into bludgeoning Sorger with the taunt of "faggot," Eakin said, a blood-soaked Savoie shook his hand and told him to shut up about what they had just done. "

He told my cousin to reach down and touch the ground, and count to ten. When he got to 9, he brought a boulder down hard on Craig's neck. Craig fell down on the ground, and they boys started to stab him and beat him with sticks, as Craig tried to get away and begged them to stop. They stabbed him 40 times, with so much force that the knife blade broke off in Craig's skull. They beat him with sticks until the sticks broke, then went and got new sticks to beat him with.

Many people are harassing my family right now because they think that these troubled boys should be extended some sort of mercy, since they were only 12 when it happened. One lady said something along the lines of "how many of you can say that you haven't changed a lot since you were 12?" to make a point about their rehab prospects.

I told her, point blank, that if you are already a murderer at 12, any changing you do between then and adulthood is not going to be for the better.

I am sick of the bleeding heart bastards that are crying their eyes out for these little murderers. My 13 year old, mildly autistic cousin did not have the capacity to hurt ANYONE. He was one of the most harmless, sweetest little boys I've ever known. We all miss him dearly, and I just wanted every one of you to know the true facts of this case, and not be duped by the bleeding heart media rallying for clemency for these cold-blooded MURDERERS.

No sympathy here. They should have sentenced them to death at the time of their 18th birthdays. The fact that he was harmless makes it worse, to me. Mildly handicapped, worse. Still a child, worse. I hope the good Lords "Give a Damn" is broke on judgement day for these two hacks. And as far as the liberals and bleeding hearts? The same to them with knobs on it.

12 years old or not - if you can commit a brutal murder at that age - you can certainly take the punishment. Sorry to say the most they will get would be life. No jury is going to hand down a capital punishment for a crime commited by12/13 year old(s) at the time. Little over 30 years old and they will be back on the street - and do it again.

Reading that article made me sick. Those terds should be locked away forever, we have no use for them in society. That Johnson moron and all like him should be executed for criminal stupidity. What kind of a statement is this?

“That’s obviously not my job to decide. But I do think that we need to decide as a society what we're going to do. Are there ever occasions where kids can make a mistake and be given another chance? Is there ever a violent crime where a child can learn from it? Profit from experience and treatment, and still lead a productive life?" asks Johnson.

“There's reason to believe that the answer is yes to all those questions. And my opinion was, these kids had a chance to make it. A really good chance of making it in the juvenile system.”

What is with that mother? My poor child? How about their poor child?

A similar case happened in Great Britain about 20 years ago. Two young punks took a young boy and bludgeoned him to death. They both got off scot free on their 21st birthday, with relocation and a new identity courtesy of Her Majesty's government. We're not the only country with a screwy legal system!

This whole sickening episode has convinced me that there are some SERIOUS problems with our judicial system when it comes to dealing with young people that commit heinous crimes. The rush to have them tried as juveniles left me witht he realization of two stark, horrible facts which were:
1.) Both of them would be out by their 21st birthdays;
2.) Both of them would have SEALED juvenile records, which would allow them to take jobs as police officers, teachers, etc.

Once they were decided to be tried as adults, they almost got released completely due to requests for dismissal because they argued (almost successfully) that a 12 year old did not have the mental capacity to understand what was going on in an adult court of law (which is apparently a protected, constitutional right, even though I cannot find where it says that  ). So, they almost got out of it due to mental incompetence once they hit the adult courts.

They need to develop a system that is still in the juvenile courts but that allows for punishments that match the crime.

Anyway, the one kid pled guilty and rolled over on his buddy. He got 14 years, which they considered lenient because of his reduced role, and his cooperation. If 14 years is lenient, then my guess is the big kid is going to end up with 25 to life out of the deal.

As far as the death penalty goes, I don't think I want them to have an easy way out like that. If they were 30, 40, or 50 years old, then I would say YES. But since they are so young, i think life in prison is a more harsh punishment than death. Here is why. They will never have a girlfriend, hold hands, have a first kiss, get to go out on the lake with their buddies and girls in bikinis and have fun in the sun. THey will never get to go play in the snow ever again, or sit by a warm fire on a cold evening with a willing woman. And they have their entire lives to sit around and think about that. Whie their buddies from school are going to senior prom and losing their virginity to a cute girl in a cheap hotel room, they will have lost their virginity years ago, only theirs would have been lost to the big, hairy sell mate they call Bronco Bill.

If they ever do make parole, they'll hopefully be old men, with wasted, squandered lives, and all they will be able to think about is how much they wish that they had never hurt my cousin, how the one minute's worth of thrill they got out of hurting him ruined any chance that they had to ever feel thrill again, to ever be happy with their sorry excuse for a life.

Not wanting death penalty is not a mercy thing from me in this case. It is my idea of horrific, awful revenge, and I just pray the God will forgive me for the way i feel right now towards those MURDERERS...

"They will never have a girlfriend, hold hands, have a first kiss,"
you haven't watched enough jail movies! if there is any justice, thats where all those things will happen.
Seems like when people who do crimes like this go to jail, the hardcore prisoners take issue with crimes done to innocent kids. (we can hope)
