A**h*le at Autometer --- Update
For those that have read my questions about fittings for my Autometer isolator and for those considering an Autometer purchase -
Because I did not have the size and type fittings to run a line from my FPR to the isolator I installed for my pressure gauge I called Autometer tech support today to ask. Unfortunately I find out their isolator is not compatible with diesel and it will destroy the diaphragm and fail. SO, I cannot use it.
The mind boggling part of the call to the support line was that the guy, completely unprovoked, got mad about something and argumentative and defensive. He told me I needed an electric gauge and, politely mind you, I said I agreed but they are $225 and I didnt want to spend that much. This is where he got pissy and said "well, you already have close to that much with your isolator and the lines" which is far from the truth. So far, I have about $100 in it and technically only need about another 30 or 40 if that much. So I responded with "well I got a good deal and dont have anywhere near even $200 in it so the electric is just not an option for an alternative." It went rapidly downhill from there.
I was appalled at how this dick got defensive and argued with me completely unprovoked. I have written to AM about it and told them I expect a reply before I buy another one of their products. Tilting at windmills I realize but that just chaps my ass.
If you plan on buying their gauges, do not plan on getting any quality service from their support line. It doesnt exist.
