I have some Christmas lawn ornaments such as deer and trees and the lights on them are starting to irritate me. Isn't there some kind of electrical tester that you can just hold up to a wire to see if it is hot? Changing 2000 bulbs that wont come out of the socket without breaking is not my idear of a enjoyable evening -mad I am thinking that if I could tell where the juice stops I could find the problem. Anyone know where to get such a device?

Those are meant for sticking in a 120V outlet Crumm, but the ones Ive used like them (Fluke) would light up next to a live wire.

Yep that be a "stupid" stick. Read what voltage they pick up, some will sense as low as 30 volts inductance and lie to you.

Let us know what you end up with Crumm. Something like that would be handy, especially at Christmas time.
