note 99 7.3 trans HELP!!

Alright I towed the 18' boat in for service this morning, on my way out after dropping off the trailer I ran into a friend of mine so I put on the brake and rolled down the window. Well I never put her in park but after talking to him for 5-10 minutes transmission fluid poured from the front area of the transmission. I had it towed to a shop who filled it up and ran it for an hour no leaks and drives fine. They said it could be a pump, but it drives fine and so far has not leaked. Any suggestions on what may have happened and what I can do to keep it from happening again?

Fords cheap pump seal. when the tranny gets to hot the pump seal will leak.

Your tranny guy should beable to get the much better after market seal and replace it.

The seal is around $5. bucks.( Precision International #16601EV). The tranny has to be pulled but thats not a big deal.I dont know what the tranny shop will charge for labor.

or the fluid just got hot and snotted out of the breather pipe..
irregardless, it was a question of heat, so I think I'd be looking at a cooler upgrade...
