my buddy has a 97 F-250 7.3.. here are a few problems..

1-no wait to start light....glow plug relay is not making any noise..
2-when you turn the key to start the truck nothing happens..if i jump the starter solenoid the starter just clicks once and then nothing..it is probably something simple..but i do not know where to start...please help!

does anyone have wiring diagrams for these 2 itmes....Thank you,
Mike

Batteries.....................get them load tested and if one is bad change them both.

Weak batteries cause all kinds of odd electrical problems.

Try jump starting it to get him out of a bind tonight.

Sounds like classic battery symptoms. It's getting cold out, get the batteries tested.

I'll agree, base on the limited evidence presented. Bad or corroded battery cables or connections are a possibility too.

Jump start did not work!...on a volt meter each battery has 12.5 volts...when he turns the key the battery went down to 12.2 volts..Should they have more volts???..this has stumped me!..
Thank you,
Mike

Jump start WON'T work if the batteries have DEAD CELLS in them.

Believe me, I have had this happen before.

It wouldn't jump with 2 set of jumper cables hooked to it.

2 New Batts, and it fired right up :D

OH YES,

I would have VOLTS from them, but not enuff AMP's in them to do anything thing.

Get the Batts tested, Any place can do this and you will know.

I am sure it is probably dead cells in them.

If you JUMP the starter solenoid, it should try to turn over if you are getting power to the starter, no matter if the truck has the key in it or not, that is what the solenoid does, connects power from the BATTS to the Starter, by the KEY in the truck.

It might be gone also though. I know mine just went out and have to start the truck by puttting the KEY ON and jump the solenoid till the truck starts.

GPR might be bad also, they go bad too.

I believe both are the same part, about $20 each at parts stores.

Let us know ;)
