Anyone know where we can find the fuel filter cap with a REAL 1/2" drive fitting to loosen/tighten it.? All I have found either have none ( only slots for the twin screwdriver trick) or the ones with both 1/2" drive and special tool combo fitting. Stuck a socket in the latter and spun it instantly right out ( soft plastic). Very hard time getting it tight enough not to leak. The one it had when i bought the truck had just the square socket hole, but the filter is attached to it and being new to diesel wasnt sure if i could take it off without screwing it up, because i can get the filter with no cap. But if I cant tighten it it's pretty much useless. Therfore i shall defer to my more knowledgeable breatheren here on my best options.

I just use the handle ends of a medium sized pliers. Stick the ends in the holes in the cap and stick a screwdriver crossways between the pliers handles for turning leverage.

It's always worked good for me with no problems ever. No need to buy a special tool.:sweet

Zactly... I have some pliers with rubber handle that I use to avoid
slipping.

or you could get a Dodge 4wd socket...
that's what I use..
has six tabs on it to engage the lock nut on the bearings..
now that everything is unitized hub, pretty obsolete..
