Why not? Interesting idea.

Don't know that anyone around here has beat the crap out of a 6.0 enough yet to warrant a new motor. Ford/Int'l shortcomings aside on the early ones. I think that many that are going to pony up the cash for a new motor would go for a same motor replacement or go with a Cummins for the ability to mod the heck out of it! I am leaning towards the latter if/when my 02 with 92k dies.

you could do it, motor mounts and the 7.3 plus the tranny yep. the tq will not work with the 7.3 ecm programming and sensors so your stuck with a standard or the reliable auto :sly

Check out the Nov 06 Diesel Power and read about R. Madsen who transplants a twin turbo Cummins into an OBS F350 and kicks out 945HP!!

He's actually made closer to 1200 on #2 but blew up a head gasket in the process. I know that swap seems cool, but if I was going to mod a 12 valve, it'd be in a dodge body, not a ford. It's real easy to put a compounded set-up in a cummins, look at all the room they have. I still want to do a compounded 7.3, but I don't want to lose my heater and ac, amongst other things. Just my .02

There was a guy over on the "dark" forum a while back named Mad Dog who had a Superduty F-350 with a Cummins in it. Last I heard, he was up over 800hp on #2 and twin turbos. I had a video of him doing 11.42 in the 1/4 at Las Vegas. He was running a 4R100 from BTS and was breaking something on almost a monthly basis. I think Brian was using it all as "field testing" to better improve his trannys.

I visited BTS twice and once asked about the setup. I was told that an adapter plate and special input shaft was required as well as a separate programable controller box for the trans. A large number of failures were due to the special input shaft breaking vs the BTS tranny itself.

OK. I saw further up where fgtex said it was a OBS, so I figured it was maybe a different guy. I knew Mad dog was driving a Superduty F-350, either a Supercab or Crew cab.
