I am looking at a 2001 F-250, with 55K miles. I just wanted to know what kind of MPG i can expect, tow capacities, and potential problems with a 7 year old truck with 55k miles.

I'd rather ask you all hear with real world knowledge than a dealer or a book. ;tu

Welcome to the site. Some others may be able to help you out since I have not had much time with my 7.3's. One thing is for sure finding a 2001 7.3 with only 55K on it is a blessing. I would seriously get that truck quick if the price is right.

it's seems rather a good price for what it is. 4x4, crew cab, lariat. $20k. Almost makes me wonder what's the matter with it to be so cheap.

I may be hanging out here for quite awhile if i end up getting it.

I have an '01. Bought it used with 123000 on it. I tow about 1/4 of my driving time. I have about 155000 on it now after 1.5 years. No problems at all except front end hubs and brakes replacement. Love driving it no matter what diesel costs a gallon......Oh yea, I'm getting about 450 miles out of a 26 gal tank if I take it semi-easy with the throttle.

My 01 7.3 had 122k when I bought it 3 yrs ago, now its sitting close to 180k. No complaints here I love it. The only downfall is the trans., I had to replace it at 128k, :dizzy but I was running a extream programmer at that time.

It's smiles per gallon:D My 97 gets about 15-18 mpg empty. Not sure about loaded. Haven't really calculated that. It's had no real problems since I got it in September. 176k No major complaints here.:sweet

diesel fuel is $4.19/gallon. That's why it's so cheap.
