pictues of a 6.7 with 5k on the clock. apparently a glow plug tip broke off as you can see what it did to the head. The piston was worse, second one i have replaced with a complete new 6.7. no answers from the big dogs who built it as to what caused this, but i hope it is an isolated case of someone who was not paying attention when they installed the glow plugs, not a fun engine to replace.

Wow, someone didn't do something right. Didn't know you still had to lift
the cab to work on the 2011 & 2012. Thanks for the pictures.

Looks like a valve failure just like all the other cab chassis trucks.

I had the same issue in my 2011. Wasn't able to determine if the issue was exhaust valve breaking or glow plug breaking, but it certainly hosed up my engine and required a new install. Ford won't even listen to me and attempt to help even though it's a known issue. Started a group on Facebook, 2011 Ford Diesel Failures, in an attempt to maybe gain a little leverage for the guys who've had the issue but can't get any assistance from Ford. I'll try to post the direct link to the FB page later.

6.7's suck in my experience. Yes I have a sower taste in my mouth. I have a 2011 6.7 King Ranch with a few hundred miles over 100,000K that blew on vacation. Cost 3K to get it back to the dealership. Ford rep that was given the case and had a 24 hour time to return call hasn't called me or the dealer. It's been days. I have a 2017 King Ranch that is suppose to be here in 3 weeks. Google Ford 6.7 valve. Its a known problem for earlier 6.7 models. I personally will never own another one due to the lack of customer support. 8K to purchase a long block.
Word to the wise, google is your friend!!!
