Hello folks;
I was referred here thru Oilburner.net Forum via RV.Net forum.
You'll find my same Questions there too.
Still no positive answers.
Here goes;
I've got a 2005 Ford E350 van converted to a class "B" by Sportsmobile at their Huntington Indiana facility.
It is fitted with the 6.0L Turbodiesel and Five [5] speed Torqueshift transmission.
Weight is {7500 lbs.} before packing, {9500 lbs.} ready to tow [including tongue weight].
On a recent 7500 mile trip South to Tx., West to Az., East to Fl., and then North back to Ohio pulling our {10,000 lb.} travel trailer, we averaged a solid ten [10] mpg.
High was 16.5 running light and low was 6.5 towing in mountains.
We kept meticulous records during this trip so as to have the information on our next one.
I've asked a couple of "experts" if there is any way that I can improve both economy and performance that will pay for itself, using Auxiliary Transmissions, Computer Chips, Exhaust modifications, Intakes, lubricants, or combinations thereof.
Replies were mixed, ranging from "You're doing great, don't change a thing", to "change it all."
The most reasonable one seemed to be "Go to RV.net forum and ask other RVers."
Several other sites were recommended at RV.net, including oilburners.net.
There I found the "Ford PowerStroke" forum which led me here.
So, here I am, open to suggestions of all types.
As You might guess this tow vehicle is probably our last so we'll have a long time to recoup any investment.
Since writing these forums I have been in E-Mail contact with both U.S. Gear and Gear Vendors, neither of which makes an OD or UD auxiliary gearbox for this vehicle.
Several requests for information to Banks have gone unanswered.
Then exploring their website, I determined that they do not make anything, [intake/exhaust/chip/six pack] for my vehicle either.
Am I stuck here or do you know of other resources and 6.0 L PSD owners who've had success with them.
