On my 04 6.0 the turbo barks throw the intake when I throttle in to it or let off of it. When I let off it sounds like a pullin tractor snuffing out. When I am trying to get to speed it barks, jerks & smokes black. It does this almost all the time hot or cold. I can hardly drive it & my hot rod days are over till fixed. If you all got any ideas I would aprreciate it, thanks.

You could have an egr or turbo issue based on your description. However, if it does it as soon as you start the truck and take off it is most likely a boost system problem b/c egr is not commanded on cold engines. If it shudders when you let off the pedal on harsh acceleration your turbo is probably sticking. WHY:confused: There are a few reasons but w/out checking it out or knowing what kind of codes it is throwing it is hard to say, a little more info would help the diagnosis. If you still have warranty your nearest dealer should be able to help you.

codes ?
got a boost & egt gauge ?

are you hearing lots of whistle
w/ no forward motion ?

could be as simgle as the VGT Solenoid sticking (an indication of
this would be "over boosting" off idle).

could also be a faulty epv...(did you ever have this replaced under recall) ?

if youre overboosting off idle you can pull the plug on
the VGT solenoid/valve and see if the problem is resolved.

you can also do the same thing w/ the egr valve...disconnect
the plug...to see if the problem goes away.

make sure the truck is OFF when/if you disconnect any
of these items. disconnect ONE device at a time when testing...

use the following image to locate:
the VGT Control Valve (solenoid) (top photo, item #3...in the middle of the turbo)
the EGR Valve (lower photo, item #1, near the oil filter)

I will defiantly check the vgt solenid, I didn't know what that did before. I've replaced th epv sensor already. It can start doing this problem after I drive 50 mile when truck is warm to so I was puzzled. The whistle goes away in the exhaust when it acts up.I didn't know if these trucks had waist gate or not or if that was the problem. I will check the stuff you all said and let you know, thanks allot.

no wastegates on our trucks....the job of a "conventional" wastegate
is performed by a combination of actuators & sensors...most of which
have been discussed in this thread...in particular the ebv or ebpv, vgt actuator & the egr.

the problem also is complicated by the fact that ONE devices
IMPROPER action can misdirect the control of another.
