Just traded 04 duramax for 06 powerstroke .Hope it wasn,t a mistake Looking under the truck I have a oil leak and it looks like the rear seal .Do these motors have promblems with the seals thanks. 963 miles on truck
John is it new? Mine and just about everybody else I know has had that same "Uhh Ohhhh" feeling when they see an oily substance on the bell housing.
Most of us are pretty sure it's assembly lube getting hot and running down and not actually the rear main leaking. Mine did it for about 1 month and quit
Wipe it clean and keep an eye on it and your oil level, bet it stops after a few 100 miles or so.
Welcome to the 6.0 club, hide your wallet, we're real good at spending other peoples money around here
welcome aboard john
the oil your seeing is more than likely assembly lube left over, wipe it down real good, monitor it if it get worse....take it back for service.

give it a few 1k miles to break in

I swore I had a rear seal leak, searched every where. Took it in they ran the die nothing. Took it home got the inspection mear out found the leak. The hose was loose on the inlet side to the Turbo. Tighten it up and cleaned everything up no more little drops on the drive.
